Bye Bear

Short Film, Original, Polynoid

Bye Bear depicts multiple outcomes.
What if the current run to re-create us in robot form is taking an unexpected turn?
Maybe those sentient creatures realize that they don't want to be like us.
They might seek a different goal. One that strives to set them into a true community.

Written and directed by Jan Bitzer as a fever dream, counter point to anthropocentric developments, love letter to what is good about us humans and of course an homage to David Lynch.

Bye Bear had its world premiere at Sitges Film Festival in 2023 and went on a 2-year festival cycle, screening at 60+ festivals worldwide.
It won the Méliès d'argent for Best European Fantastic Short Film.

A motel on the side of the road. The perfect meet-up place for a small, secretive society. A group brought together by a common desire they want to keep hidden. The members - five robots on their own path of evolution. We create robots in our own image. Always expecting them to obey, expecting them to strive to be like us. Deciding for themselves, these machines see their future somewhere worthier than following in our footsteps.
